The car is usually the best approach to get around in La Prairie. It is especially convenient to access a place to park, and many houses for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier. On the other hand, the public transit service in La Prairie is not very frequent. Thankfully, there are approximately 10 bus lines, and most houses are near a bus stop. It is difficult for people walking to navigate this part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area because very few daily needs can be carried out on foot.
Services
Some, but not all, property owners in this part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area will reside within walking distance of the nearest grocery store. A small variety of restaurants and cafes can be found as well. Concerning education, parents and their children will appreciate that wherever their home is located in La Prairie, daycares are nearby. On the other hand, primary schools and high schools are not very abundant in La Prairie, and accordingly not always within walking distance.
Character
Home buyers who prefer a calm environment will enjoy La Prairie. There is a small amount of greenery in this city; to be more precise, residents will find that a lot of streets have sub-par tree coverage. Nonetheless, there are over 50 parks nearby for residents to unwind in, resulting in them being easy to reach from the majority of locations in this part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area. The noise levels in this city are also quite low, as the streets are generally reasonably peaceful - however noise can be bothersome near the railway line, Autoroute de l'Acier or Autoroute René-Lévesque.
